Another wedding
Since Matt and I have been together, we have been for five weddings (including ours). We've been invited to probably 7 or 8, but we've only gone to five. These weddings aren't just your basic low end weddings either. Every one of them we've attended has been open bar reception except one which they still had beer, wine and champagne. I'm talking nice nice expensive weddings.

Most of the weddings we've attended are friends of Matt's and it seems like they are all trying to out do the last wedding (because all of them are friends). I have had a great time at all of them. We just went to another one this past weekend. This reception was too, an open bar.

I wasn't going to drink a whole lot because I had to work on Sunday. Matt had already told me he would probably drink alot since it was a wedding of one his really good friend's sister (who was also a friend of his). He hadn't seen Mark in a long time since he lives in Mansfield.

Matt started drinking crown and seven at the beginning of the reception so I knew it was going to be one of those nights. The dance floor was empty and that is pretty unusual for the weddings we've been going to.

Okay, first let me tell you about Da. Da is Karri's grandmother who has a crush on Matt and calls Matt her boyfriend. She really likes Matt because when Matt was working at the funeral home, everytime he would see Da comimg to a funeral (she's been going to lots since her friends are passing way... she's pretty old), he helps her in and always gives her front row seating. Even at our couples shower, she wrote in her card to us that Matt was her boyfriend and she hoped I wouldn't get jealous. Matt and I both adore her. She's a hoot and can out drink everyone I know. Her favorite song is Humps, by the Black Eyed Peas and she always starts shaking it when that song comes on. I wonder if she knows just how truly entertaining she is to us younger kids... But, Da is very dependent on people. She has gotten so used to be catered to, that she expects it now. She walks so slow and has to have help walking 20 feet.

At this wedding the other night, she was there. We were sitting at the table next to Da and Karri's parents. The DJ started playing a fast hip hop song and like I said earlier, the dance floor was empty. Well, I saw Da looking at Matt and I whispered into Matt's ear that his girlfriend was smiling at him. Well Matt eats that up and looks over at Da and points to the dance floor and mouthed to her that later they need to hit the dance floor, just him and her. Well, Da doesn't hear to well and I guess doesn't read lips too well either and says, "ok" and starts to get up out of her seat (with help). Matt walked over and grabbed her hand and they headed out to the dance floor. Remember, the song is a fast hip hop song. I swear, they were MOVING! They danced two or three songs to all fast music. Karri leaned over to her mom and said, "and it takes her 20 minutes to walk from the car to here." So, Da, you've been busted...

As the night progressed, Matt loosened up a little more. This wedding was different than any other we've been too. At first the dance floor was empty, but after Matt started dancing it stayed full. He and I danced several songs together and we even bumped and grinded against one another (I didn't want to, but he forced me). He loves attention. Maybe I've mentioned that before. After dancing with the bride and having all eyes on him, he does the ultimate. The centipede. This will go down as a first time for him doing this at a wedding.

Let's just say I should have seen it coming. When Matt starts taking everything out of his pockets and taking off his glasses and hands them to me, I know he about to cut loose. He's done it before, just not at weddings. It's usually at Dalton's, but the first time ever I saw him do it was at his 10 year high school reunion.

We ended up not getting home until close to 4am. We stayed after the wedding visiting and Matt taking care of Mark because he had a little too much to drink. That was a sight. One drunk trying to take care of another. Matt was patting him on the back and Mark was puking and kept saying how f**ked he was. I was just sitting there watching, wondering when we were going to leave. Matt kept looking at me saying thank you. I felt bad for the guy. At least he was staying there at the Marriott and didn't have to go anywhere. He called Matt 2 days later thanking him and apologizing to me since it was the first time I had ever met him. It didn't bother me at all. Everyone is entitled to celebrate.... it just sucks when you feel like hell the next day for it, which by the way, Matt did too.

Our next wedding we are attending is in October. Matt is actually in the wedding, so I'm sure he'll be up to performing his dance skills again by then.
I've tried uploading pictures, but blogger isn't letting me. I'll try again later.
