Why is it that a work week goes by soooo slow and the weekend is over within a blink of an eye? I'm not liking how that goes.... Anyway, my weekend was one to be remembered.. to say the least.
Friday: Matt met me here at my office so we could ride together to Ashley's basket ball tournament. We had a couple hours to kill so we stopped by a little pub and had a beer and a sandwich. That was nice. We talked about our day and just enjoyed each others company.
*Note: Ashley's school didn't win either game so they didn't have to play again Saturday.
Saturday: Matt and I slept in (we consider sleeping until 8:00 late, since we are both extremely risers during the week) and took our time getting out of bed. One word for that is WOW!!! Although it is hard for me, I will refrain from giving out details. After our shower, we started our day. First, we went to Kohls so I could exchange some boots I had bought that were too big. What should have been a fast and easy transaction lasted long enough for Matt to pick out all kinds of stuff he said he wanted and me standing in line for 30 minutes and making a few friends while there too. Why don't these stores have more than 2 customer service representatives during such a busy time of year? Doesn't make sense to me... After Kohls, we went to Wal-Mart to get some groceries and other stuff. We had already planned on making shish-ka-bobs on the grill, but we didn't have any of the stuff. After spending $148 on 4 bags of stuff we left. We got home and I could barely keep my eyes open, so Matt suggested I take a little nap. I decided that would be a very good idea too. After resting for about 45 mintues, I got up and helped Matt get our shish-ka-bobs ready. I made myself a very tasty bloody mary and turned on Christmas music, only to find Matt turn it off and turn on football. It was big weekend for football, but I don't want to talk about it...
My friend Kristin called and wanted to come see our house so she came over for a little while. Matt finished up on the grill and we never actually sat down and ate, but we snacked on the meat and they turned out WONDERFUL! Kristen and I left together to meet Angela at Chili's to discuss Karri's baby shower and when that was over, Matt and I had planned on meeting at the Cactus to play some shuffleboard. Shuffleboard was fun. We ended up playing against another couple and lost. We didn't care, because we were ready to go home. It's wonderful living so close to there.
Sunday: I worked and Matt helped around so much at home doing laundry, cleaning up and cooking the best burgers again on the grill. I am going to have to get him one of those long gloves that are fire proof because he keeps burning his poor hands.
This weekend was absolutely wonderful. Is that wrong of me to look forward to Ashley going to her dads so we can have these kinds of weekends? It's always so crazy around the home front when she is around. Most of the time it's fine, but she is getting to the age where she isn't liking us too much... that's a different story and I don't have the time to go into it now.
Matt, Thank you again for all you do. You are my best friend and I love the time we spend together. Your cooking skills are blowing me away!! You are spoiling me! I'm sorry I had to break away for a little while to meet with the girls. You know I would have rather stayed with you. I'm glad we had this weekend. You are amazing and I've never been happier. Thanks for putting up with me. I know I'm not the easiest person to deal with. I love you very much! MB
Great post and might I say, about damn time! And no, Mandy, it's not wrong for you to look forward to weekends without Ashley. Just think, if she'd have been home, she may have knocked on your bedroom door during your "WOW" time. Taylor did that to me just last week. A very uncomfortable situation..... Anyway, it's great to hear you so happy. You know no one deserves it more.
